To keep strawberries fresh for around 2 weeks, wash them well in a solution of 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water, then pat dry with a paper towel before storing them. Vinegar kills the mold spores and bacteria that sit on the berries and cause them to go bad.
Not a pretty site, right?
